Biography

Gareth Maher is a highly respected football journalist based in Ireland, who has written for several national and international publications.

Gareth currently writes for the Irish Daily Mail on both domestic and international football.

Previously, the Irish Football Editor with Setanta Sports and News Editor for Extratime, he has also acted as the Irish-based football correspondent for several international publications and websites such as ESPN.

Having earned a BA (Hons) in Journalism & Media Studies, Gareth has regularly appeared as a expert pundit on various radio stations, including RTE, and contributed to projects such as Nike’s Joga Bonito campaign, EA Sport’s FIFA 10 launch and the Dublin Super Cup.

Gareth has emerged as one of the top Irish football journalists due to his indepth knowledge of the game, the extensive contacts that he has built up, and the passion he has showed in covering Irish football.

He is secretary of the Soccer Writers Association of Ireland (SWAI), holds a Diploma in Sports Psychology, and is working his way up the UEFA coaching ladder.
